This charmat method Chardonnay from Central Tikves in North Macedonia was a real eye-opener.
The country’s central location on major trade routes has ensured diverse viticultural influences over the millennia. Lazar Ristov produces the country’ most awarded wines from both indigenous grapes (Tamianika and Vranec), but also international varieties such as Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir and this exceptional sparkling Chardonnay.
Fresh and supple with yellow apple, citrus and freshly baked bread and nutmeg notes, two years on lees gives more texture and depth to the mid-palate – you can appreciate why its picked up so many Golds at Mundus Vini and the Balkan Wine Festival amongst others.
