Brunia Wines, Brunia Pinot Noir, 2017

Brunia Wines is named after the Brunia Leavis flower found in the pristine fynbos shrubland which makes up a large part of Cold Mountain Farm estate. Winemaker Wade Sanders believes in sustainable practices that take into account the holistic health of the farm and is converting his vineyards to organics.

The area benefits from a cooling maritime influence and higher than average rainfall compared to Swartland and Stellenbosch, this combination plus the 300m elevation gives a long growing season giving wines with bright acidity, tension and ageability. This is a young project worth watching.

A perfumed strawberry preserve bouquet, clean and pure. medium-bodied with red berry fruit and just a little dryness on a finish. A taut, mineral expression of Pinot Noir with a bright acidity, which lends tension and ageability to the wines.
